Pottles Court also offers the following short stay services; respite care. Our home is situated just 7 miles outside of Exeter in the pretty village of Exminster, where there are several local amenities , such as the Surgery and Chemist , that we have a good working relationship with. We have a local Tesco, cafe and a few pubs with gardens. It is easy access from central Exeter with a direct bus route into the village and bus stop that stops near to the home. The home itself is an old farm property that has its own unique charm, it is wheelchair accessible and there is free parking facilities on site. Once in the home, we have a bright and cheery dining room and lounge area, within the ground floor area. There are area's of quiet seating including a 'Well Room ' and conservatory. We are fortunate to enjoy a garden that is safe and private and its only access is via the home, its very pretty come summer with separate seating area's to enjoy. Our Team are very skilled in area's of Dementia, Parkinsons, Frailty to old age, Palliative care and End of Life. We have international workers who hold nursing qualifications (though not able to use them here) but where we are able to use their expertise . There is a lot of experience within the team and this is shared when mentoring new staff, we are proud to say we don't use agency and the home is stable Our professional partnerships with the local G.P practice is very strong, we work closely with a nominated G.P and District Nurse Team . We support referrals to professionals that are identified within an individuals care, this can be ranging from Occupational Health , Physio's to SALT teams etc We are a close team and we work hard to keep skills current and upto date , we are using PCS which is an electronic care system, this is a live feed and documents all aspects of care and events that families are welcome to see. We currently have a companion worker who has worked for many years within her role and has homed her skills, there is always something to do from 'Wake up, Shake up ' exercises to painting , singing, gardening, and utilising the local facilities. Folk who do not wish to do any group activities can enjoy 1:1 quiet time away from the mainstream activities. Our cook is great at delivering homely meals that suite the needs of the home, everything is cooked from scratch and every day there is a traditional hot dinner and cakes and puddings cooked on site.
